TRAVEL & STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

3 hour session, max 6ppl

In my eyes, street and travel photography isn’t all about settings and theory, it’s about knowing your camera well enough to achieve the look you are going for without taking on so much that it slows you down. This workshop is really about learning to be creative and showing people the world around them in ways they have never seen before. It’s about sparking imaginations, transporting people to another place and capturing the atmosphere rather than just pictures of ‘things’. This street & travel photography workshop is for anyone who loves taking photos and sharing stories, be it of their travels abroad or right here at home!

With a team of just 6 participants these photography workshops keep things fun, taking the stuffiness out of photography, and keeping things relatable. My goal is simple, to help you understand your photography using analogies, stories and confidence building techniques. There is plenty of one-on-one attention with personalised learning for your specific camera model, experience level and photography goals.

Following your workshop you will be invited to join the Matt Krumins Photography Course Collective Facebook group, giving you a safe and productive environment to continue your photography growth through peer and instructor feedback.

This exclusive small-group workshop is your chance to revolutionise the way you see compositions and capture your images leaving you with inspiration to go out and photograph the world through fresh eyes!

FAQs

Your 3 hour walking travel & street photography workshop has a limit of just 6 people giving you plenty of one-on-one instruction as well as personal attention relevant to your camera brand and model.

Also, I believe that photography concepts take practice and time so at the conclusion of your workshop you will be invited to an exclusive online support group where you can continue to grow your photography alongside other workshop participants!

Awesome! In travel & street photography rain is actually an incredible thing giving us amazing reflections to use in our photographs. That said, if we are experiencing significant rain we will postpone our workshop by offering a voucher code for you to re-book on a workshop at your convenience! I always recommend bringing a waterproof jacket as even on a sunny day Melbourne can show it’s unique ability to change on a dime!
In photography we never stop learning, so whether you are an enthusiast photographer or or a complete beginner, my small course size will give you plenty of one-on-one attention to ensure new ideas and concepts can be tailored to your experience level!
These workshops are about how to see things rather than purely looking at the camera itself, so what you really need is a camera! That’s it! Most camera these days have access to Program mode and for those with Aperture and Shutter priority modes we will be exploring these as well. If you’re just starting out this is the perfect time to get to know the ins and outs of your new camera and get off Auto mode without getting into the technical stuff and if you’re more experienced I’ll be guiding you through how to get the most from your settings. Tripods are not needed for this workshop.

I took Matt's Lightroom Class last night. The class ran for 3 hours and i learnt so much. Matt is incredibly patient, which is so important when you're just a beginner. Having said that several people in the class had done previous classes with Matt and were there to learn more or just to refresh skills learnt prior. I can't wait to start practising and sharing some of my images for feedback, which was encouraged on the night. Great to enjoy an evening with other peeps with the "Shutter Bug" Thanks Matt, I will look forward to more workshops with you.

I bought the Melbourne Zoo class as a birthday present for my partner, she said it was the best gift she ever received! Matt was so knowledgeable and patient with us all, and the small group was enthusiastic and motivated to learn and improve their photos. The location was obviously perfect, as it offered numerous subjects to hone our skills on, plus who doesn't want to see 3 teenage lions fooling around! Thanks very much Matt for the superb lesson. Cheers, Justin and Michelle

OK, I have to be honest I didn't know how to use my camera, ok so I knew how to turn it on... but that was probably it. From the get go Matt made it super easy and used lingo that I understood, and best of all he made it Fun! Learning is fun, and learning something new is always hard at the beginning. Photography takes time to master and I look forward to learning more tricks of the trade in future MK workshops. Thank you for helping me to capture photos to tell my story.

I recently attended Matt's "Melbourne by Night" workshop. It was a great small group workshop and Matt took the time to get to know each of our skill levels and catered the workshop accordingly. We learned and practiced different techniques within close proximity to Flinders Street Station. Matt was patient, friendly and able to explain the concepts and techniques in a way that was easy to understand and apply. He has also established a set of resources so you can continue to develop your skills after the course is complete. Matt has reinvigorated my interest in taking great photos and I will definitely be back for more. Thanks Matt!

I have taken Matt's zoo as well as the travel and street photography workshop and thoroughly enjoyed both. The latter course was yesterday so I will focus on that one here. Being limited to just six participants means that Matt can provide individual attention to each member and challenge us according to our level. With an emphasis on composition throughout the three hours yesterday, he provided us with lots of different pieces of advice for getting interesting compositions as well as a variety of settings for the practice of these. Although he suggests in advance that we take a notebook and pen to his workshops, I never have time to use mine but do make sure to write up some notes upon return home. I liked the small cards he handed out yesterday summarizing main guidelines to capture blurry backgrounds and capture motion, which were main emphases of yesterday's workshop. I am very impressed with his highly professional organization and the variety of support he offers to his students, including a closed supportive Facebook page for past participants. Yesterday he even explained how he can also offer quick individual advice via text if we get stuck in the field in the future. I definitely plan to take more of Matt's courses in the future.

I signed up for Street & Travel Photography workshop in Melbourne, and have to say it was one of the most engaging workshops I've done. With only small group (6 people) there was plenty of 1:1 mixed with group sessions. Matt is very light hearted and you can see his genuine desire to help improve your photography, no matter your experience level. I mainly took the workshop to learn how to tell stories through images, improve my composition and pick up some new tricks along the way. I can't wait to do another workshop and test my skills further with Matt. Thanks again.

Matt's simple, no nonsense approach was a breath of fresh air. This 3 hour workshop won't turn you into a professional photographer but it will certainly turn you into a photographer who dares to try out various options to get a better result and with a "new" way of seeing what you want to shoot. Thanks Matt.

Completed the Advanced Underwater photography course with Matt and can thoroughly recommend It. The whole learning experience was enjoyable and Matt has a way of making all aspects of photography easy to understand. Particularly helpful having his experience underwater, showing how to put the theory into practice. Will enjoy putting my new skills to the test!

Great under water workshop with Matt and Feet First Diving in Port Stephens this weekend. Matt was very well prepared and his lessons whilst being informal and easy to understand were very powerful. The practical sessions were fun and surprisingly interactive given the environment and I have plenty of food for thought as I progress with my uw photography. As usual the crew at Feet First Diving were very welcoming and helped make the weekend fun

I did the 3 day advanced under water course hosted at feet feet first diving. The course was brilliant. It covered everything I needed to learn in order to move forward with my photography. The subjects were broken down into segments, that were easy to digest, and the explanations were in both plain English, and technical speak. So much better to be able to relate the two, rather than just getting the easy version. It's incredible that so much information was transferred, and that I've been able to retain it. That speaks volumes on matt's ability to teach! The dives were great, even though visibility was poor. Matt was on hand, and ready to change settings and explain them after. All in all, it was a fantastic course that I would strongly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their underwater photography skills.

I did the one day seascape course with Matt around a week or so ago. I'd been taking photos for around 6 months prior to the course and mainly do seascapes and I'm self taught. Main reasons I did the course was to one gain a bit more confidence in what I was doing, sort some exposure issues out when in high contrast light and to better understand composing a good image. All these needs were ticked off as well as understanding my camera better. Also got a few tips in Lightroom editing, as well as uploading in the correct resolution and format to social media. Now it's up to me to build on what I've learnt. The small number in this group allows for good one on one time during the day. I think this is a great course for anyone to do

I did a private Lightroom workshop with Matt and it was one of the best decisions I've made for a long time. Matt knows his stuff inside out so was able to tailor our workshop to the things I particularly wanted to learn. He is easy to get on with, gives clear, uncomplicated instruction, is generous with his knowledge, and extremely helpful. As well as illuminating Lightroom, he also taught me things about my Olympus OMD-EM1 that I didn't know, despite having taken four days of expensive classes on it — a real bonus. He gives you lots of notes so you have references to hang onto, and invites you to call with any subsequent problem (does he realise what he's letting himself in for?) So I'd recommend that you stop faffing about, driving yourself crazy and cursing the technology, and give Matt a call.

what an amazing afternoon we had with Matt doing the street photography. whilst we are not beginners at photography, we came away with another layer of knowledge and insight of how to get 'the shot'. a great way of explaining the settings on your camera, and a very creative approach to getting the photo we all aspire to. wonderful Matt, we look forward to doing more with you. it is all hands on, and so much fun ! thanks so much Matt.
