Thanks again Matt.

😊

Lightroom is something that I have struggled with for a few years and just could not grasp the basics. They way Matt breaks it down and the friendly, informative way it was presented, all suddenly started to make sense.
Matt could not of been any more helpful and displays an outstanding knowledge of the subject. It was my first course with Matt but certainly won’t be my last. Looking forward to doing more of the wide range of course he offers.

Highly recommend!

Matt made the process of learning and understanding fun and very helpful.
Now to go practice.
Thanks for a great time and all your help.

I came away with a better idea of what I needed to do to help myself. He provided a convenient set of tips on laminated cards as a takeaway support tool. Best thing was his help on settings for my camera; but he seemed to know enough on all the makes and models in our group.
Highly recommended.

Adding to my review, since completing the beginners course I also completed the Street and Travel which was fantastic! The pandemic restrictions hit but that didn’t stop Matt. He found a virtual way to deliver some of the courses. So I gave it a shot with the Compositions workshop and it was truly worth it. Following that we were able to be out and about so I completed the all day Seascapes and Peninsulas workshop. We learned to use ND filters and become more familiar with our cameras, well worth it! I also attended a four day photography festival where Matt was one of the organisers and presenters. Needless to say it was jam packed and has kept me busy during ISO. Most recently I completed the mastering manual workshop and it did not disappoint and is well worth it. If you are looking to learn more about photography in a practical way, just book in with Matt, you won’t regret it!

Would definitely recommend others to attend his workshops and 10/10 would attend more of his workshops.
Thank you so much once again!

Additionally he seems to know how every camera works so even if you don’t it’s okay because he does.
Thanks Matt.

The most recent addition was a 3 hour 1 on 1 workshop with Matt to recap and cover off ideas for an upcoming trip to Sri Lanka.
Matt is incredibly patient and a great teacher and has an ability to be able to explain complex explanations in a way that is easily relatable and you will remember.
The 1 on 1 workshop allowed me to ask as many questions as possible.
I also had the opportunity to explore filters and Speed lighting which I had never even considered before.
Would highly recommend Matt’s workshops he goes above and beyond for each and every one of his students !

Matt's small group workshops are the best way to enjoy life in small groups and get out and about while the public is sparse.
He's got plenty of sanitizer available and all classes are contactless.
Never stop learning! It's a great opportunity!

I attended his very helpful city night photography class and hope to do more with him in future.

great tips funny and easy to understand
highly recommend

This was a fantastic workshop. Learnt heaps and stepped out of my comfort zone. Matt is a great teacher and I am looking forward to doing more of his courses.

> Matt has a way of explaining technical jargon in layman’s terms.
> Matt breaks down the course into bite size chunks in a very logical order.
> well structured so that you can understand key components of any camera such that when you go out and take pics you apply what you have just learned and maximise your cameras settings
> Matt spends one on one time with participants in a small group to answer all your questions in full.
> gives you instant feedback on your photos so that you can take that pic again with better knowledge
5 out of 5 stars. Great course. I’ll definitely recommend Matt’s course to my friends and family.

I highly recommend this workshop with Matt.

Matt is a very talented and creative man.
as a beginner I couldn't believe how much I have learned in only 3 hours.
I really liked his approach to photography and how he teaches to see and observe everything around us.
I was in a small group of very nice people, so it wasn't crowded and easy to get individual guidelines from Matt.
highly recommended guys!
Over the years many people have requested a portrait workshops but it never sat well with me. Most of the time, those requesting these sessions were going to be photographing people in public, whilst travelling, or in high pressure environments and so a class with a model just didn’t feel like it would fit the bill. This workshop on the other hand is designed to help you cope with real world situations, building your confidence to quickly assess your subject matter and get the shot even when you aren’t in control of the situation. We cover Aperture priority mode, exposure, black & white photography as well as confidence building exercises using un-rehearsed interactions with street performers and buskers to capture real world portraits. We start our session around Flinders St where we cover off the settings component of the workshop using each other as stand-in subjects. From here we start our walk through the streets of Melbourne putting the theory into practice with exercises in confidence building as well as constant feedback and support. Best of all this photography workshop is limited to a small team of just 6 giving so there is plenty of personalised attention and support to ensure no-one is overwhelmed.
Each participant is required to bring along $10 in gold coins to ensure that all buskers and performers photographed are fairly compensated.
This exclusive small-group workshop is your chance to break down the barriers that stop you from getting the perfect people shots and capturing moments as they happen.

Your 3 hour walking Real World Portraits photography workshop has a limit of just 6 people giving you plenty of one-on-one instruction as well as personal attention relevant to your camera brand and model.
Also, I believe that photography concepts take practice and time so at the conclusion of your workshop you will be invited to an exclusive online support group where you can continue to grow your photography alongside other workshop participants!
Each participant is required to bring along $10 in gold coins to ensure that all buskers and performers photographed are fairly compensated.
Melbourne can be a funny place when it comes to weather so regardless of the forecast I always recommend bringing a waterproof jacket as even on a sunny day Melbourne can show it’s unique ability to change on a dime!
Buskers & people tend to retreat for cover when it rains or even looks like rain so if we do have a less-than-ideal forecast you will be invited to book onto a different workshop date that suits your schedule. I do my best to give you as much notice as possible but changes the morning of the workshop do occasionally happen.
A lot of my workshops are about how to see things rather than purely looking at the camera itself, so what you really need is a camera! That’s it! A longer zoom (telephoto lens) will definitely help you get closer shots than a standard zoom but it’s not essential to learn the basics.
If you’re just starting out this is the perfect time to get to know the ins and outs of your new camera and get off Auto mode without getting into the technical stuff.
Real World Portraits do not require any special equipment however I do recommend a camera that has access to Aperture Priority Mode and if you have a selection of lenses for your camera bring them along. In this workshop we really do explore the use of both wide angle lenses and longer telephoto lenses in portrait environments but don’t stress if you only have one lens you’ll not miss anything!
Meeting point: Top of Flinders Street Station main stairs
