I know so many people who have purchased speedlights only to find they sit in the cupboard or bag collecting dust. I also hear a lot of people talking about being 'natural light photographers' and whilst natural light is absolutely beautiful, it doesn't always do what we want it to do. Being a proficient photographer to me means knowing how to make the most of any situation, how to light a subject when the light isn't perfect and how to achieve the lighting effects you envy on Instagram! In this workshop my goal is to make you a master of your speedlight; to help you understand when you need to use it, when you need to move it off-camera and how to take control of the shape and intensity, balancing beautiful natural light with the fill of a speedlight. Working with a range of still-life subjects and partnering with others in the workshop this session is designed for those who are absolutely new to their speedlights as well as those who are stuck using them in uninspiring ways.

To make the most of this workshop I host this workshop at my home in Essendon to give you access to all of the modifiers, speedlights and lighting gadgets in my collection. I have limited this workshop to a group of just 4 people to ensure everyone gets the camera-specific personalised attention they need and can have all of their speedlight queries answered.

Topics covered:

-Using your speedlight on-camera using TTL

-Balancing natural and ambient light using manual mode and aperture priority

-How to shape light with modifiers in a DIY studio environment

-Lighting still-life, food and flowers

-Editing demonstration in Lightroom

I do have lighting you can loan for this workshop so it's not essential that you have your own speedlight, however you will definitely get the most out of this session with your own kit. If you have radio triggers this is a bonus.

Following your workshop you will be invited to join the Matt Krumins Photography Course Collective Facebook group, giving you a safe and productive environment to continue your photography growth through both peer and instructor feedback.

This exclusive small-group workshop is your chance to revolutionise the way you see compositions and capture your photographs.
