Editing: Take the handful, don’t forget the armful!

Last night I had a one-on-one via zoom with someone who was heading to Tonga for some whale-swims and it had me opening up my Lightroom catalog to demonstrate some techniques. When looking through the images I realised just how many photos were there that I’d missed in my initial cull. I’d obviously gotten so excited over a handful that I lost sight of the armful of photos that should have made the cut. I think sometimes the problem is that when I go on a shoot where each day is similar subject matter (whales for instance) that I get very fixated on not posting two shots that are similar so I end up overlooking shots that really should be keepers. Anyway, I’ve decided to add this as one of my weekly bullet points; to share a historic image that I’ve rediscovered. This one is from our Tonga trip in 2018…
