Sony and computational photography

Interesting speculation this week from Chelsea Northrup as she talks about the future of Sony’s camera and a little ace they may have up their sleeve. She explores the idea and speculation about Sony introducing an Android processor into the Sony camera line up which would allow your camera to act more like a mini computer than just a camera. Not a traditional computer like we know it but think about the processing power of a computer like your phone or tablet. I talk about this a lot on workshops but computational photography like you see on the iPhone (how it pre-edits your images and blends frames together instantly) is something missing on traditional cameras. Even their connectivity to transfer files to your phone/tablet/computer is pretty average at the moment compared to other tech we own. It’s just speculation at this stage but it’s worth having a look as these kinds of innovations would be something that would be a big consideration in camera selection. Video above.
