Why I bought a 1 terabyte memory card
A few weeks back I talked about the new Angelbird 1TB memory card (it’s super crazy fast too by the way) and how it was a really tempting idea. At $780 AUD though I wasn’t totally sure it was worth it. What do I get for that money though? Speed that allows 30 frames per second in 50mp RAW (that’s shooting 3GB per second) for wildlife and a capacity that would allow me to store close to 10,000 images on a single card. Overkill? Maybe, but I’m actually seeing it as another version of a backup, a third layer if you will. I can keep images on my card from months ago without any culling. For client shoots this is a major safety backup that is independent of my Lightroom or computer. There is the obvious downside risk that everything is on a single card that is not immune to failing but it’s an extra backup, not my only one 🙂 Anyway it arrives Wednesday, just in time for our advanced wildlife workshop!
