I really enjoyed the macro workshop and learnt so much. Matt explained everything clearly and gave us lots of practical tips that I’ll definitely use in the future. What I especially loved was the afternoon session on special effects – experimenting with light, reflections, and textures really opened my eyes to more creativity. I came away feeling inspired and more confident in my skills. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to take their macro photography to the next level!

I had a tremendous time at Matt’s Macro workshop at Mt Macedon. Matt is an excellent teacher outlining a range of different techniques in a way that is easily understood and then provided the time and tools eg lights, speedlites to enable us to practice. If you are interested in photography and want to deepen your skills I’d highly recommend Matt’s workshops.

I recently attended one of Matt's incredible photography workshop. From the very first moment, the energy was upbeat, welcoming, and inspiring. Matt is not only an expert photographer but also fantastic teachers who genuinely cared about helping everyone grow, no matter their skill level. Thoroughly enjoyed the boot camp at Bright. Matt’s pedagogical approach is learning through doing and doing and doing. Definitely works.

Many highlights on the week but Matt’s knowledge of the area and his opportunistic approach meant we enjoyed quite a few great photographic moments. Photographing a flock of yellow tailed black cockatoos, one example.

Someone once said to me "we all have pursuits in life and these can be attributed to a desire to do something interesting, something fun!"

No one understands this more than Matt! me, as someone who has completed a number of Matt's workshops / online courses can say I've found his approach to these workshops immersive and completely engaging, gone are the old ways of delivering dry monotone theory based information, certainly there is some theory, but the workshops are largely practical, the activities fun and delivered in Matt's lively and enthusiastic manner, with a good dose of humour to boot!

Key to Matt's success (these are nearly all 5 star ratings ?, right ?) is his incredible passion for photography and his desire to pass that onto others, whether they're a veteran photographer or absolute beginner, nothing is an effort.

I should also mention his knowledge, which is impressive, consider on the Bright Bootcamp I attended last week, six people standing in near complete darkness in a country field trying to photograph the stars, all with different camera's and tripods. Matt seamlessly moving from camera to camera checking we've got our settings right, then our images, then effortlessly rattling off menu settings if someone enquires as to how to change a setting, as if each camera was his own.

I've learned What he doesn't know is not worth knowing!

If you have any interest in photography, from someone who's never picked up a camera to someone who has a world of experience you'll definitely enjoy what Matt has to offer, I can't recommend his workshops highly enough.

My partner and I have been to many Matt’s workshops and still got amazed by the 5-day Bright Bootcamp. Matt is very thorough about photography theory, combined with more than enough practical tips, which gave us plenty of practice in different scenes and conditions. We were so excited about spotting all the colourful snow gums, small huts in moody weather, Astro and so much more!!! Couldn’t recommend Matt’s bootcamp enough, we would look forward to our next trip with Matt🤩

Matt’s courses were nothing but amazing. We did the beginner’s course which ran in Melbourne Zoo and then the street photography course later that afternoon on the same day. Really appreciate Matt providing personalized feedback and sharing tips and tricks that immediately improved our photos. Couldn’t highly recommend Matt enough. I was lucky enough to attend Matt's Bootcamp in Bright this year. One of the participants cancelled and I was able to take their spot. Being a relatively experienced photographer I was not sure what I would gain from the bootcamp. After 5 days, I realised how much extra I had learned. Not only was Matt knowledgeable in most aspects of photography and Video. He made it simple and clear, he used relevant analogies and kept somewhat complex topics simple and clear. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone attend Matt's workshops and bootcamps. Matt does not just take you nice places and lets you be, he takes you there and holds your hand if needed while you learn. Small groups adds to the time you have with Matt.

As always Matt has provided a very informative, information packed, workshop with lots of opportunities to practice during the day. With cheat cards (to take out into the field) and a workbook, with QR codes to video links to take home as a reference to when you need a refresher. I participated in almost all of Matt's workshops, I highly recommend any workshop Matt has available, the one I attended this time was the Advanced Wildlife workshop, they are packed full of information, one on one attention, where needed, and lots of practice time.

Recently I attended Matt's macro workshop at Mt Macedon. I am a complete novice when it comes to macro photography. Matt has a very patient (he needed it) relaxed teaching style, which enabled me to learn heaps. The day was structured well, the places we went to were easily accessed and Matt adapted easily to the experience level of each individual.

Rarely have I been to a workshop with such an enthusiastic, energetic and knowledgeable facilitator.
My aim was to learn more about using my camera and Matt knew it inside out as well as all the other brands! I definitely achieved my aim and a whole lot more.
Matt didn't just give us information - he made us think and work things out for ourselves while being there to support us every step of the way. He had great stories and images to use for illustration.
The group got on really well and I certainly had a lot of fun as well as filling my head with new knowledge.
Can't wait for BFOP and the Africa trip now!!

Matt’s Bright bootcamp taught me so much over many different genres.
Each day was different, based on what the weather was doing and what was the best thing to do on that day. This was no photo tour, but rather a way to learn as much as we could dependent on conditions.
Matt knows this area well, and gets the most out of each and every day for you. His passion for his craft is contagious and we had a lot of fun.
We might start the day with an early sunrise or finish the day with a sunset, or a session on astro .In between we might look at trees, old huts, fog, vegetation,Landscapes, macro and waterfalls.
If you want to improve your photography, rather than take a tour then this is the thing for you. Don’t get me wrong, we got the most amazing photos too, but most importantly we learnt from what we did.
Matt is a natural teacher and very patient. If we didn’t understand what he was telling us he reworded it in ways we did understand.
100% I would recommend Matt and his famous toasties. 🤩

What can I say...the Bright Photography bootcamp was brilliant. Thanks to Matt and the wonderful group of people who made this experience one to remember. Matt's workshops are full of information and opportunity to shoot in some stunning locations in and around Bright and the Vic Highlands. Matt has a great way of explaining things through using analogies that are easy to understand. Also the information book and reference cards are a great take away. Bright has been on my bucket list for a number of years and what better way to tick this item off and explore this region than by joining Matt's photography bootcamp. I highly recommend it.

This was my first workshop with Matt. What a fantastic experience! Matt shared so much of his valuable expertise and techniques with us.
